Dear St Nick,
After all these years, may I call you Nick? Sir, with a great pleasure I report that we had another successful Christmas toy distribution here in east Pasco County. At this time, and as we are still passing out toys to some of our most deserving neighbors, I am unable to give you the final distribution figures, but Dear St. Nick, I can comfortably report that we provided toys, socks, underwear, and a most generous frozen-food allotment to over 1000 families and nearly 4000 deserving Tots.
My dear fellow, you can be awfully proud of us, for our little community, again, came together to donate, store, and distribute nearly 26,000 Christmas toys and other necessary items throughout our five, craftily placed, toy distribution sites here in the east side of our county. I continue to be astounded by our community’s generously and caring concern for our less fortunate neighbors. As you well know St. Nick, things have been tough here, and all throughout our great country, however, our compassionate community pulled together to provide a “Most Merry Christmas” for many of our most deserving children. In many ways, and in my humble opinion, this gallant effort represents:
A True Christmas Miracle.
But wait Santa, there’s more. We could not have achieved our lofty goal without the assistance of scores of community and business partnerships. These fine folks helped us by providing storage space, logistic support, and lodging for us to distribute our collected toys. We successfully distributed our toys at Wesley Chapel Elementary school, PHCC, Alice Hall in Zephyrhills, and at the community center in Land O’ Lakes.
And Santa, let me not, for a minute, forget all our cheerful volunteer elves, for they were magnificent. On Saturday, as I visited all our five distribution sites, I found the “Spirit of Christmas” wherever I went. These jolly volunteer elves were the backbone of our joyful effort. They helped set a jolly tone for all our participating families. You would have been pleased to see them in action: Holiday’s Christmas spirit unconfined.
But Jolly St. Nick there’s yet more fantastic news to divulge. This year, I had the personal pleasure of presenting five East Pasco Toys for Tots community captains a truly wondrous gift. That being: The gift of recognition! For their outstanding effort each captain: Anna Fulk - Wesley Chapel; Sylvia Salazar – Dade City; Ken Keith – Zephyrhills; Pastor Herb Roshell – Land O’ Lakes; and, Pastor Dave Raley – of the Tri-Lacoochee area were honored to receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their outstanding community volunteering efforts. It was an honor to have this chance to recognize each of them for their unwavering commitment and service to our local community. For Santa, these folks are the true heroes of my delightful little Christmas Story.
Well Sir, I can happily report: Success! Now we are now almost ready for Christmas to come. So Santa, pass me the figgy pudding, and let’s all have a Happy New Year!
And so, as little Tiny Tim once so heroically avowed,
God Bless Us Every One!
With the joy of Christmas bursting from my heart,
Yours Truly,
Bob Loring - Head Elf
